Elara Vance: Finding Peace in the Clay
When Elara Vance isn't throwing pots at her studio in North Portland, sheβs hiking the trails that inspire her latest collection. We met Elara three years ago at a local market, and we were instantly struck by the quiet intensity in her work.
Every piece of Elara's stoneware is thrown on a wheel, trimmed by hand, and fired in her small kiln. She uses locally sourced clay and non-toxic glazes, ensuring that your morning coffee mug is safe for you and sustainable for the earth.
"I want people to feel the history of the object," Elara explains. "The imperfections aren't flaws; they're the story of the clay and the hands that shaped it."
