Essentials

What You'll Need

High-Quality Paper

Look for textured kraft or premium matte paper that feels substantial to the touch. Our terracotta and sage papers are favorites for their rich, warm tones.

Natural Twine

Organic cotton or jute adds a rustic, earthy touch that complements any gift. It’s strong enough to hold a bow but soft enough not to damage delicate paper.

Sharp Scissors

Clean cuts prevent fraying and ensure a neat finish on every fold. A sharp blade makes folding corners and creating precise edges much easier.

Techniques

Eight Wrapping Techniques

From classic folds to modern twists, master the art of presentation.

1. The Classic Fold

Start with a square sheet of paper. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top edge, creating a triangle. Fold the right corner over to the left edge. Flip the paper over and repeat on the other side. Fold the bottom flap up and tuck it inside the pocket created by the top flap.

2. The Envelope Wrap

Perfect for flat items like books or cards. Fold the paper in half. Fold the two bottom corners up to meet the center crease. Fold the top flap down. Fold the two side flaps in. Fold the bottom flap up to seal it. Add a wax seal or sticker for the finishing touch.

3. The Knot Wrap

Wrap the paper around the gift, leaving a long tail. Tie a simple overhand knot around the center. Pull the ends of the paper through the loop of the knot and tighten gently. This creates a rustic, minimalist look that requires no scissors.

4. The Furoshiki (Fabric Wrap)

Use a square of cotton or linen fabric. Place the gift in the center. Bring the corners together and tie them in a knot. Pull the remaining fabric tails to tighten the bundle. This traditional Japanese method is zero-waste and reusable.

5. The Ribbon Bow

Use a wide satin ribbon. Create a loop on one side and cross it over the center. Make another loop on the other side. Pinch the center and wrap the tail around the back. Secure with a pin or a dab of hot glue. Fluff the loops for volume.

6. The Layered Look

Wrap the gift in a solid color. Cut a contrasting patterned paper into strips and wrap them horizontally around the box. Secure with double-sided tape. This adds depth and visual interest without needing complex folding.

7. The Tag Wrap

Wrap the gift simply. Cut a tag from a piece of decorative paper. Punch a hole and thread a piece of twine through. Tie the twine around the gift and attach the tag. This is the quickest way to add a personal touch.

8. The Eco-Loop

Wrap the gift in brown kraft paper. Use a strip of washi tape to secure the ends. Tie a strip of recycled newspaper or a dried leaf around the center. This celebrates the natural materials and keeps the presentation rustic and charming.

Sustainability

Wrapping with a Conscience

Beautiful doesn't have to mean wasteful. We believe in wrapping gifts in ways that respect the planet while still looking stunning.

Consider using fabric scraps for the Furoshiki method, or repurposing old maps and calendars. Even the paper we use is sourced from sustainably managed forests. By choosing reusable materials, you're giving a gift that keeps on giving long after the present is opened.
